Arlington Court
Arlington Court is the closest National Trust property to Bampfield Farm: it features an intriguing house built in 1820, beautiful gardens, walks and trails across the spectacular countryside, and is also home to the National Trust’s Carriage Museum. In the summer they often arrange outdoor theatre and other events, which are worth seeking out.

Hartland Abbey and Gardens
Hartland Abbey is an interesting historic property set in pretty grounds. You can visit the house, wander around the gardens and take a scenic walk down to the small rugged cove of Blackpool Mill.

Dunster Castle
One of our favourites is Dunster Castle. Situated on a wooded hill on Exmoor, the ancient castle is has dramatic views and lots to explore. The mediaeval village of Dunster is also worth a visit, with the historic Old Yarn Market, interesting shops and restaurants and cafes.

Killerton House
Killerton House has interesting grounds to explore, and a historic house with a discovery centre, dressing up, orienteering and play trails.

Knightshayes
Knightshayes is one of the best preserved gothic style properties. Set on a large country estate, you can also explore the grounds, which is well known for its rare trees and shrubs.
