North Devon has a wide selection of shops, from independent boutiques, to shopping centres.
We are proud that North Devon has such a wide selection of independent shops throughout the whole area. Most villages and towns have a selection of smaller shops, from delicatessens selling the best in local produce, to art galleries and gift shops.
There is also a selection of clothing boutiques, gift shops and specialist shops, all selling a wonderful array of goods – many of them made locally.
Shopping in Barnstaple
Barnstaple, the main town in North Devon, offers a mix of major high street names, mixed with a variety of independent shops. The historic pannier market is open six days a week, and holds themed antique and craft fairs on certain days, as well as a general market selling fresh local produce.
Butcher’s Row is situated next to the Pannier Market. This famous, historic street used to be home to around 33 butchers, but now has a wide range of unique, local food shops. Two of our favourites are East and West bakery, who make a range of artisan bread and award winning pasties, and The West Country Cheese Company who stock an incredible array of cheese and other delicatessen goods.
