Beautiful beaches

North Devon offers some of the best beaches not only in Devon but in the world.

From small rocky coves, filled with shells and rock pools, to stretches of golden sand, we have beaches to suit every beachcomber and every season.

We have explored most of the beaches dotted along the coast ourselves – when you stay with us you can benefit from our local knowledge and advice. We can point you in the right direction, whether you want to go surfing, kayaking or sandcastle-building!

Some of our favourites include the award-winning Woolacombe beach which is just a 30-minute drive, we have beach toys for you to borrow.

Another, smaller beach in Woolacombe is Barricane Beach. Also known as Shell Beach, Barricane is a small cove nestled between the rocks and is famous for its shells. Barricane is also home to the popular seasonal beach café, serving authentic Sri Lankan curries on the beach. Take a bottle and watch the sun go down one evening, it’s the perfect night out!

The beaches of Saunton and Croyde are world-famous surfing beaches with miles of golden sand, whilst quieter Putsborough is a lovely family beach.

If you’d like to explore rockpools, try visiting Rockham Beach in Mortehoe, The Tunnels Beach in Ilfracombe or the beach at Lee Bay. All have crystal clear rockpools which are teaming with sea creatures.

Guests have also discovered a quieter beach at Combe Martin with fabulous walks around the coastline.
